Missions

Crawford Street UMC provides opportunities to make a real difference in our community.

  • Meals on wheels

CSUMC members, led by Mrs. Peggy Flanagan, cook and deliver meals to sixty to seventy shut-ins on the third Monday of each month.  The lists of recipients is generated by the Community Council.

  • Storehouse Community Food Pantry

Storehouse Community Food Pantry is located on the back parking lot of CSUMC.  Our mission is to obtain food and support from public and private sources for distribution to individuals and families requiring temporary assistance.  In order to be served, a photo ID and Social Security cards on all members of the household must be presented.  Storehouse Community Food Pantry hours are Monday and Wednesday from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM and Thursday evening from 5:00 PM-6:00 PM.  For more information, please click here

  • service over self

Service Over Self is a one week youth-led mission project where the youth are fed at domiciled at CSUMC.  The youth are divided into work teams and spend the week repairing homes for those in need in our community.  We begin each week with a SOS Commissioning Service on Sunday night.  On Thursday night, we have our family super and closing worship service.  The homeowners we have worked with all week are invited to attend our family super and worship service.  We plan fun activities for the youth in attendance on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights after supper.  SOS Week always begins on Father's Day.

  • Adopt-a-school program

We are partnering with Dana Road Elementary and Micah's Mission to make learning centers and craft projects for the teachers and students.

  • Honduras mission trip

Every other summer we go to Pena Blanca, Honduras with Expanding Borders Ministry.  While there, we have taught English in an elementary school, helped with construction of an orphanage, done SOS work on homes, taught Vacation Bible School, led Sports Camps, and taught health education to young mothers in the area.  This trip is open to anyone high school age or older.
