Tom grew up in Columbus, MS with his parents, Atwell and Lola, and his younger sister,
Kathleen . He has a BA degree in Religion and Social Work from Baylor University and
Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Southern Methodist University.
Tom served as a Hospital Chaplain for 16 years in Rapid City, South Dakota and Dallas,
Texas. For the past 20 years he has served as pastor of United Methodist churches in
McComb, Greenville, Columbia, Como and Brookhaven, Mississippi. He has taught
Religion and Philosophy at Northwest Community College and the UMC Course of
Studies School at Millsap College. Tom has two daughters: Nicole Smith, a Special Education teacher who with her husband, Greg,
cares for three foster children (Cash-4; Kedon-3; Kyler-1) in Watertown, S.D. and
Amy Atkins, an ordained United Methodist minister who is currently working for the
Watertown School system as a behavioral consultant. Tom’s sister, Dr. Kathleen Atkins,
is a Special Education professor at the University of Central Arkansas. Their mother,
Lola Atkins is a retired school teacher living in Columbus, MS. Tom is married to Mary
Jo Coombes who just happens to be a retired Special Education teacher.
Tom’s personal interests are fishing, hiking and Blue Grass, Celtic and Blues music.
Lee Ann has served as Director of Youth Ministry at Crawford Street United Methodist Church for the past 15 years. She has a BSE in Special Education from Delta State University and Masters Degree in Special Education from Mississippi State University.
She retired as Resource Teacher at Warren Central High School, where she served as Co-sponsor for Student Council, First Priority, Red Cord Service Award, and the Warren Central Relay For Life Team. Her hobbies include reading, playing Mexican Train Dominoes, and traveling - whether it is with her family or the JOY Ministry at CSUMC. She is also very interested in missions and feels truly blessed to be involved in such programs as SOS and the Mexico Mission Team.
Danielle has a BAE in Elementary Education with a certification in Mild/Moderate Disabilities from the University of Mississippi. She was a classroom teacher for 3 years at St. Francis and 3 years in the Vicksburg-Warren County School District. Danielle has served as Director of Crawford Street Playschool since 2005 and Director of Children's Ministries since 2008.
Danielle has been married to Brad for 21 years and is the proud mother of two children, Mary Bradley (15) and Wesley (14). In her spare time, Danielle enjoys running, hiking, being outdoors with her family and reading.
Kathy is originally from Nebraska. She received her Bachelor's degree in Music Education from the University of Nebraska and her Masters in Music Education from Mississippi State University. She is a member of the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers serving as Area VI Chime Chair, and the Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts where she has served as State Treasurer. Kathy was married to the late Jerry Mahloch. She has two adult sons, Jamie and David and a daughter-in-law, Samantha. In her spare time, Kathy enjoys cooking, reading, and playing bridge.
A 32-year-old Vicksburg area native, KK has a warm and welcoming spirit and a passion for Christ. We believe her ministry will be fruitful in the discipleship of both youth and young adults, and a blessing to the whole Crawford Street family. KK is a new member of Crawford Street and joined the staff on February 1, 2017. KK graduated from Porters Chapel Academy in 2002. In 2012, she graduated from Life Changers Bible College in Illinois in Biblical Studies. KK has lived in New York City, Atlanta, Chicago, and Los Angeles working in ministry and modeling for the past ten years. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, running, and going to the beach. KK loves being an Aunt to all her nieces and nephews.
Walter has been the Executive Director of the Grace Christian Counseling Center since opening the service in September of 1998.
He is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor. Walter is also a Board Approved Supervisors for LPCs. He is an Ordained United Methodist Minister, and he recently completed his Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Counselor Education from Mississippi State University. He is a faculty member in the Psychology and Counseling Department at Mississippi College. Walter is a past-president of the Mississippi Licensed Professional Counselors Association, and serves as the Professional Issues Chair for the American Mental Health Counselors Association. In 2006, Walter received the American Mental Health Counselors Association’s Counselor of the Year, and the Mississippi Licensed Professional Counselors Association’s award from Licensed Professional Counselor of the Year.
Emily and her husband, Matt, moved to Vicksburg seven years ago. They have two boys, Harber (10) and Mattox (7). Matt is a football and golf coach at Warren Central High School. He, also, heads up the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). Their boys attend Beechwood Elementary. She is a Statesman/Fighting Okra through and through. She graduated with her undergraduate degree from Delta State University. She earned a Masters in Special Education from the University of Southern Mississippi. Currently, she is in the dissertation process of obtaining a Ph.D in Education emphasis Educational Policy, Leadership and Management. Micah’s Mission was developed through the first two years of her Ph.D coursework process. Micah’s Mission is grateful to be within the CSUMC family!
Susan has been playing piano for Crawford Street United Methodist Church since 1979. She is a partner in Vicksburg Insurance Agency. She is married to Dr. Walter Johnston. She has two daughters, Erin and Della Loflin.
Jane received her Bachelor of Education in piano from Mississippi State University and her Masters of Music in Piano Performance from Louisiana State University. She is an Instructor of Music at Hinds Community College. Jane is married to Norman and has three daughters, Elizabeth, Grace Ann, and Sarah Catherine.
Alaka joined the CSUMC staff in 2017. Alaka and her husband, Elton, have three children, Elton Jr., El'Kreyiona, and Tai'len.
Aaron joined the CSUMC staff in January of 2016. He is a native of Vicksburg. Aaron has two sons, Aaron and Alex.
Trevon joined the CSUMC staff in September of 2017. He is originally from Port Gibson, MS and relocated to Vicksburg about ten years ago. He has three daughters and is happily engaged to his fiancee, Renee.
Lindsey joined the CSUMC staff in February of 2017. She graduated from St. Aloysius High School in 2002. She received an Associates Degree in Applied Science in Medical Laboratory Technology from Hinds Community College and a Bachelors of Science in Medical Laboratory Science from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. She worked in health care for ten years.
Lindsey developed her passion for public relations and social media while serving as a member of the Junior Auxiliary of Vicksburg. Lindsey served as the Public Relations officer in 2015-2016 and as Co-Public Relations officer in 2014-2015, 2016-2017, and currently for the 2017-2018 term. She has served on the St. Aloysius Alumni Board since 2014. She is an active volunteer for her community and for the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi.
Lindsey has been married to Chase for eight years and they have a daughter, Elvie Grace (19 months old). She enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
